Field Education Coordinator for the MSW Program
The University of Maryland School of Social Work (UM SSW) is accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty/administrative position at the rank of clinical instructor, to begin no later than December 2, 2019.
Requirements include an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, a social work license, and a minimum of five years of post-MSW experience in human service agencies. Knowledge of Maryland and DC-area human services systems and agencies is required and experience as a field instructor for social work students or as an agency supervisor is highly desirable. Experience with teaching is preferred.
The field education coordinator will be responsible for placing MSW students in their internships; developing new field placements; facilitating communication between agencies and the School of Social Work; and working with faculty in their efforts to obtain external funding for practice research. Participation in orientation, faculty meetings and committees, and teaching one course per academic year in the MSW program is expected. The field education coordinator for the MSW program reports to the Associate Dean for Field Education and will join five other full-time coordinators.
Salary will be in the $70,000 to $75,000 range.
The UM SSW is located on an urban health services campus and ranks among the top 20 schools of social work. The school has an enrollment of over 1000 MSW students, with over 850 of those students placed in agency-based field instruction sites each year. The Field Education Office is responsible for the recruitment, development, and monitoring of 400 field sites and over 700 field instructors. These placements are primarily in the Baltimore-Washington area, but also include sites throughout Maryland, and in the District of Columbia, northern Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. This position will cover the Central Maryland region, including Montgomery, Howard and Anne Arundel Counties - knowledge of these areas and the services in them is preferred.
