The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Advisor. The incumbent is responsible for advising students regarding requirements and procedures for the professional MBA program as well as several micro-credential programs within the school. The Advisor will coordinate and present at three part-time orientation sessions held each year.
The Advisor will verify degree requirements, assist in helping to maintain internal student database and University computer system (PeopleSoft), assist in handling routine inquiries, collect and verify grades, and prepare letters, graduation materials, and registration materials.
This position is highly visible in the student MBA population and plays a key role in upholding and improving student satisfaction through accurate, timely, and informed academic advising. This position primarily advises non-traditional, part-time students from diverse backgrounds. This position requires strong problem-solving skills to support student success. Due to the hybrid nature of the professional MBA program, the Advisor must be adept at virtual communication, including email, Skype, Zoom, etc.
Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience may be may be substituted in lieu of education requirement. General computer and word processing skills required. PeopleSoft experience preferred. Excellent communication and time management skills. Experience in working with students, handling confidential circumstances, tactfully handling problems/concerns.
Knowledge of University procedures and policies and University registration procedures. Must be able to work under pressure.
