Position performs standardized, ongoing duties and tasks in the area of security dispatch with an emphasis on radio traffic management and electronic surveillance site patrol. Manages vehicle and card access registration. Monitors emergency phone lines, alarm consoles, CCTV and dispatches security personnel as required. Maintains written logs and journals of all security related activity during assigned shift.
Associateâ™s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services guard card.
NAED, Natâ™l Academy of Emergency Dispatcher/ETC Certification or equivalent.
Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.
Occasional overtime to support special events.
Successful completion of Institute's background check.

Visual acuity: 20/40 with both eyes together, with or without corrective lenses. The ability to distinguish red, green, and yellow colors is required. The use of corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses shall not interfere with an individual's ability to effectively perform assigned security job duties during normal or emergency operations.
Hearing: (a) Individuals shall have no hearing loss in the better ear greater than 30 decibels average at 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz with no level greater that 40 decibels at any one frequency. A hearing aid is acceptable provided suitable testing procedures demonstrate auditory acuity equivalent to the above stated requirement. The use of a hearing aid shall not decrease the effective performance of the individual's assigned security job duties during normal or emergency operations.
