The Department of Molecular & Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Assistant Specialist in the Hockemeyer lab, in the area of CRISPR-based genome and cell engineering, at 100% time with an expected start date of November 2019
Responsibilities: Participate in research aiming to identify genetic variants alternating the biological responses of human stem cells to environmental changes. Tasks involve human pluripotent stem cells culturing, CRISPR-based gene editing, PCR-based genotyping, and basic molecular cloning. As a member of the research group, the position will work directly with students and postdocs in completing assigned tasks.
Basic Qualifications (At the time of application): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent international degree at the time of application.
Preferred Qualifications (By start date): Tissue culture experience and skills. Experience in the field of molecular or cell biology.
Appointment: This position reports to Dr. Dirk Hockemeyer. The initial appointment will be at 100% time for one year with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
