Purpose This position will design, install and preform maintenance and troubleshooting of NVCC network infrastructure equipment and servers in the college server farm.
This position is funded with non-continuous or non-recurring funding and is subject to continuation based on fiscal year funds and the needs of the college.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
This position will design, install and perform maintenance and troubleshooting of NVCC network infrastructure equipment and servers in the college server farm. Work ranges from moderately complex and varied to working on multiple, complex projects independently. Work requires both knowing and applying fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular function. Incumbent must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of particular function to the completion of difficult assignments. May perform any of the following: participate in development of strategic planning activities? review and analyze data to predict future needs and recommend enhancements? develop technical standards and policies? plan work of others to meet project deadlines? set priorities based on user needs. This position provides guidance and training to less experienced staff and refers only the most complex problems to the chief network engineer. This position is required to be on call and work on a 24/7 by 365 days a year to support the college's core mission.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent applicable experience and training. Previous experience applying a broad knowledge of CCNP principles, practices and procedures of particular functions to the completion of difficult assignments
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.Extensive experience of Cisco products equivalent to a Certified Network Professional. This includes extensive working experience and knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, Radius and TACACS server, VPN devices, intrusion detection systems and Ciscoworks management server.
