This position oversees the routine, day-to-day public services operations of the law library, implementing the policy and procedural decisions communicated by the Director of Law Library. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Advertising and selecting suitable and responsible students as desk attendants. Is knowledgeable concerning the assigned student worker budget and acts within those parameters when hiring. Trains new workers in all appropriate procedures, creates and oversees the schedule of student desk workers. Supervises, evaluates, and disciplines student workers as necessary. -Managing circulation department operations and reporting directly to the Director of the Law Library. Supervise the Evening/Weekend Circulation Attendant, resolve circulation related issues and ensure the sustained operation of the circulation area. Supervise performance of circulation department duties. Work the Circulation Desk at least eight hours each week. Coordinate circulation of library materials according to established policies. Process overdue notices and patron fines. Become familiar with printer and photocopier repair contacts including reporting of malfunctions and correction follow-up. Communicate special requests to appropriate persons. Account for all funds received through library operations such as ILL and copy card sales. Submit funds and required documentation in a timely manner to the library account clerk for deposit. -Oversee ILL and document delivery services including the establishment and revision of policies and procedures. Process all incoming and outgoing ILL requests through OCLC and other sources. Complete document delivery requests as received including reconciliation of request inconsistencies and monitoring of request status. Tracks charges and payments for document delivery and, where appropriate, ILL. Compiles statistics and reports as specified by Director of Law Library. -Ensure the law library opens and closes according to schedule. Publish schedule of library hours according to Library Hours Policy. Open the library according to established routine, or assure that this is done by a trained alternate. Assure that the library is closed by a trained worker according to established procedure. -Add and remove items from course collection as appropriate. Solicit from faculty new additions for course reserves. Responsible for organization of the reserve collection.
Candidates who do not have an Masters degree, but who have a Bachelor’s degree plus at least 2 years of related experience also qualify to apply.
