• Plan, prepare, and execute or facilitate the execution of functional and/or automated tests to validate an application’s business, functional, and performance requirements are met. • Facilitate the identification and communication of software defects between the testing team and the rest of the project team. • Mentor new testers. • Collaborate effectively with all project team members. • Recommend design or process improvements throughout the development process. • Report status and escalate issues to supervisor and management effectively. • Participate in team, departmental, and MSU IT meetings, committees, and assignments, often representing the testing team. • Create and distribute applicable test reporting documentation to stakeholders. • Promote and support Quality Assurance and Software Development Lifecycle best practices and ideals. • Identify ways to mitigate the risk of high priority defects and effectively communicate mitigation options to the project team. • Publish deliverables such as Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases/Test Scripts, and Closure Documents. • Monitor and report testing activities to ensure testing is completed as expected. • Develop automated test scripts to accomplish regression testing or performance testing needs using Micro Focus’s LoadRunner, Unified Functional Testing (UFT), and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). • Analyze production normal/peak transaction metrics to design and appropriately size a performance test in a testing environment with differing underlying resource capabilities. • Analyze technical challenges during automated script creation or performance test preparation/execution and design solutions to overcome such challenges. • Collaborate with database administrators to monitor resource consumption during performance test execution. Adjust test design as needed to ensure appropriate stress is applied to the system under test. • Correlate performance test results to production needs. Make recommendations on performance tuning, resource allocation, or other modifications to meet production needs.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in computer science, information systems, business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience or interest in automated Regression or Performance Testing; experience or interest in Functional Testing. ; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, education, or related information technology field. • • Five or more years of experience which demonstrate a strong analytic and diagnostic skill set. • Ability to effectively plan and efficiently accomplish testing goals. • Technical skills covering products, technologies, and competitive knowledge. • Highly motivated with the ability to learn and research current technologies related to job assignments. • Skilled at building and fostering strong business relationships across different MSU teams. • Innovative and results driven. • Capability to evaluate business needs and identify critical business tasks and functionality. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment. • Effective negotiation skills. • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
