Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume)
PhD or foreign equivalent degree in Physical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a closely related field in hand by January 31, 2020. Extensive experience with molecular dynamics simulations of protein molecules.
Strong background and research experience in statistical physics, free-energy-based molecular dynamics of protein molecules, and comp utational solvation models.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator, Ken Dill, in the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology. The incumbent will conduct research on MELD accelerated molecular dynamics on small-angle x-ray scattering of labelled proteins and ensuring that all policies and procedures of Stony Brook University are followed.
Conduct research and computational modeling on problems in protein biophysics and statistical mechanics. Will write code associated with the research, and run and interpret computer simulations.
Utilize relevant scientific literature and interpret it within the context of the modeling.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings or graduate teaching.
