The Basic Sciences Division and Human Biology Division are looking for a System Administrator I/II (SA) to be part of a small team who support around 750 computers (Macs, PCs, and some Linux) for faculty and staff in the Divisions. The SA will provide support for desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, servers, instruments, and networked printers. The SA is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and support of computer hardware, software, and applications. The positions responsibilities require a customer service orientation, the ability to perform independent analyses, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Provide support to lab and administrative staff members to assure seamless computing experiences whether it is with desktop support, network access, printers, or lab instruments.
Implement, install, configure, monitor, update, troubleshoot and evaluate existing and new computing and information systems including shared hardware and software.
Independently provide end-user support, investigating and resolving technical issues.
Provide technical assistance for all operating systems (PC, Mac and Ubuntu).
Evaluate and recommend hardware and software.
Maintain inventory of computer related equipment, instruments, software licenses and subscriptions.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for equipment or systems as needed.
Stay current with system information, changes and updates.
Provide one-on-one and group training on using operating systems, software, and instruments.
Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
Appreciation of value of providing in person assistance to resolve issues.
Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting a large number of users in a comparable systems environment.
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience with Fred Hutch systems preferred.
