TheAdministrator IV provides critical technical expertise for Computing Systems inseveral areas, including technology development, operating systems research andsystems in support of core organizational functions. This position appliesproven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify,communicate and resolve systems issues as well as being responsible foractivities related to network and system privacy and security requirements. Theposition also directs other ITS staff by providing guidance with installation,management and support of research, educational and administrative systems.
Applies OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrades administrative tools and utilities.
Configures and/or add new services as necessary.
Upgrades and configures system software that supports infrastructure applications per project or operational needs.
Maintains operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.
Repairs and recovers from hardware or software failures. Coordinates and communicates with impacted constituencies.
Monitors data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Assists and/or participates in researching, prototyping and development for various projects and operational needs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
