This position is responsible for providing excellent client service and compassionate, professional handling of a variety of client interactions as well as the daily operations related to client “first impressions”. This position will be primarily responsible for the daily operations of the small animal cashier. Uphold the mission and values of the VMC. Continuously looks for ways to improve client service; helping the VMC survive in a competitive environment.
Receive payment in cash, checks and credit cards and apply payments to appropriate account.
Audit bills for correct charges and enter all write off into the system.
Add any charges that may not be on the bill.
Discuss payment with clients/help client apply for care credit.
Answer questions for clients.
Call clients regarding charges and concerns.
Mail out bills.
Balance registers on a daily basis and reconcile credit cards.
Enter estimates into computer.
Problem solving with questions on bills & charges.
Receive payments and look up balances to post to accounts.
Inform clients that pet ashes are available or mailed if requested.
Process and sort loose paperwork needed for medical records.
Discharge patients and provide clear instructions.
Ability to work independently.
Answer questions and explain or demonstrate procedures and equipment for interns, senior veterinary students, and student technicians.
Assist as requested with animal handling, restraint and care.
Recognize, document, and alert the supervisor of trends in client calls.
Recommend process improvements
Responsible to ensure that all services and supplies are charged for according to hospital fee schedule.
Willingness to cross train and assist in other areas as assigned.
Hourly Salary Range: $15.69 to $22.49 USD/hour

Candidate must have high school diploma / GED and two years of medical or veterinary office experience; training/education may substitute for some of the experience. Candidate will have experience handling money transactions, excellent customer service, problem solving and strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must possess the ability to discuss financial aspects of the case with clients. Candidate will be computer proficiency in managing multiple different computer programs.

Veterinary call center, front desk, or admissions experience.
