he Pitzer College Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A) seeks a professional with applied research experience for the position of Research Analyst. The IR&A office supports the mission of the College and the Pitzer Community by providing timely, accurate information and thoughtful analyses in support of planning, decision-making, policy formation, program reviews, and reporting institutional data.

Assist with reaffirmation of accreditation activities by coordinating the collection, evaluation, and timely dissemination of data with academic, student affairs, and administrative offices.
Develop database-driven tracking systems to analyze and report information related to campus compliance with federal, state, and accreditation policies and timelines.
Collaborate with offices throughout the campus to design a data collection schedule and report templates including, but not limited to, the Registrar, Academic Affairs, Admission & Financial Aid, Student Affairs, College Advancement, Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations, the Treasurer’s Office, Human Resources, and Information Technology.
Develop, administer, and analyze surveys, and other instruments, related to assessing and evaluating institutional efficiency and effectiveness in executing the College’s mission.
Coordinate the construction and archiving of data files in order to analyze ad hoc and/or longitudinal data.
Coordinate the production of executive summaries and reports for a wide array of audiences.
Contribute to the development and production of various annual reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in maintaining the College’s compliance with reporting requirements set forth in the Higher Education Act, as amended.
Provide data and guidance to support problem identification and resource and program development across different College offices.
Provide guidance and technical support to collaborators to appropriately assess and evaluate the College’s programs and services.
Attend meetings and participate in committees to support evidence-informed decision-making.
Develop recommendations for process and policy enhancements to support interoffice collaboration related to data collection, management, and reporting.
Perform various administrative duties to provide general support for the office.
Work Hours: This is a full-time, non-exempt position week working 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. The regular hours for this position are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. These hours may vary due to needs of the College or department.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Work with large complex datasets, including importing/exporting from various sources, merging and cleaning data files, maintaining historical records, and inferring data relationships.
Analyze data using statistical techniques and software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, and SAS).
Write in English with attention to spelling, grammar, accuracy and the needs of the target audience; presents numerical data effectively; articulate a compelling message; and use various mediums of communication effectively (e.g. emails, memos, social media). Speak English clearly, persuasively and cordially with individuals from multiple constituencies within the institution in a diverse and socially aware environment.
Report data and research in a meaningful and accessible format for a wide variety of audiences.
Conduct research in a higher education setting.
Manage a workflow that includes multiple collaborators, projects and deadlines.
Produce accurate, professional quality work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with a wide variety of individuals including faculty, staff and students.
Handle confidential data effectively; operate with integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
Education: A bachelor’s degree is required (a master’s degree is preferred) in the social sciences, statistics, higher education, and/or related disciplines.
Experience: Must have two to three years of experience working in assessment, program evaluation, and/or quantitative and qualitative research methods, including: data analysis using statistical techniques and software; reporting data and research in a meaningful and digestible format, and; conducting research in a higher education setting.
