Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated E-Learning Support Specialist for the Office of Academic Affairs within the School of Public Health. Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Educational Program Development the E-Learning Support Specialist provides primary day-to-day support, per semester setup and training in the use of instructional and educational technologies and services, focusing mostly on the Learning Management System adopted by the School.
Among the key duties of this position are the following;
Assists with web-based course development and upgrading.
Works with faculty, Office of Information Technology (OIT) and Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) instructional designers to develop activity timelines and benchmarks to meet deadlines for course completion.
Sets up a reminder system to keep faculty on schedule.
Provides support to faculty developing online course programming including setting up structure of Canvas Course, Kaltura Screen Capture, editing of closed captioning, use of PlayPosit and VoiceThread and provide advice in Universal Design for online courses and canvas course sites.
Responds to end-users' requests and problems using related educational technology systems.
Assists Instructional Designer with providing training and workshops on other instructional and educational technologies.
Assists in the development of documents like best practices, user guides, how-to's, tips and tricks, and frequently asked questions. Writes and updates standard troubleshooting procedures.
Establishes and maintains effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues, internal clients and customers, other faculty and administrators, and appropriate OIT staff.
Exhibits effective interpersonal skills with clear oral presentation and writing ability in relation to information technology.
Assists with meeting, scheduling, note taking, researching and drafting of new program proposals.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related discipline required.
Experience and knowledge of learning management systems (Canvas, in particular), instructional technologies, various hardware, peripherals and computer operating systems, networking systems and various software packages for educational and instructional technology use.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
