Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Post-doctoral Fellow, for the Sabaawy Lab at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Post-doctoral Appointee position is to conduct research investigation into the molecular targeting of the signaling pathways in the study of tumor stem cells, utilizing three dimensional (3D) culture techniques to maintain patient derived cells under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Performs experiments to examine the effects of targeted therapy on cellular pathways in xenografts and genetically engineered mouse models. Drafts written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs experiments independently or as assigned, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions.
Conducts a continuous program of research and development regarding the stem cell assays and maintenance, constantly evaluates existing procedures where required to keep methodology and procedures current.
Generates, compiles, and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions, recommendations, etc. pertinent to research activity.
Attends regular team meetings to assist in the design of experiments and will provide support with general laboratory maintenance.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant science finishing their training (following their residency and/or fellowship) who wish to prepare for careers in academic medicine.
One or more years of field experience in signaling pathways in tumor stem cells.
Candidates in all-but-degree status will also be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to handle laboratory animals including mice.
Candidate must have effective oral and written communications skills.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Expertise in three-dimensional (3D) cell culture, embryonic stem cell (ESC) or iPS culture, primary tumor graft models or genetically engineered mouse models are highly.
