Facilitates compliance with Ohio Public Employment Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards; Oversees all aspects of compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs that require annual or regular activities for university employees; Ensures university employees meet all compliance requirements for the Hearing Conservation Program; Respiratory Protection Program; Powered Platforms, Manlifts and Vehicle Mounted Work Platforms; Forklifts and Powered Industrial Trucks; Hazardous Materials; Asbestos Exposure; Lead Exposure; Pesticide Application; Confined Space Entry; Lockout Tagout; Overhead and Gantry Cranes; Fall Protection; and, Bloodborne Pathogens; Compliance activities relating to PERRP and OSHA Programs include coordinating and reviewing medical evaluations and clearance through Employee Health, training, job site assessments and consultations with end users and supervisors; Acts as a liaison to University Health Services (Employee Health) by establishing relationships, ensuring access to employee health records, appointment scheduling and assisting university employees with access to occupational health services; Coordinates, develops and presents training programs and conducts respiratory fit-tests in support of regulatory compliance; The Office of Environmental Health and Safety operating hours are from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm; This position is subject to 24 hour call in response to emergency situations as part of the EHS Emergency Response Team; Position requires participation in the medical surveillance program, including clearance for respiratory protection; Position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.

Bachelor’s degree in a field relating to occupational health and safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience; safety inspection skills; good to excellent verbal and written communications skills; general knowledge of environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, fire and OSHA standard/codes/rules; valid driver’s license; successful completion of background investigation.
At least two years of experience in an occupational safety related role.
