Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
General Summary/Purpose: The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant to assist in the day-to day logistical and operational tasks for a research study. The Research Assistant will work on a study examining Pelvic Inflammatory Disease among young women in Baltimore City. The qualified candidate will be recruiting, screening, enrolling and consenting study participants.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
Perform data collection and analysis under the supervision of Sr. researchers.
Implement software for regularized reconstruction methods for STI.
Maintain paper and computerized research files.
Participate in weekly research group meetings with the PI as well as with related collaborators in this project.
Prepare mandatory reports and documents/protocols.
Present and communicate results and progress updates clearly.
Conduct literature searches to support the manager and the PI.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor’s in related discipline.
Some related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits or 18 graduate degree credits equals 1 year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college coursework may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work with a diverse populations, prior public health or interview experience a plus.
Must be able work afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
