General Summary: The position requires a highly motivated and detail-oriented person to oversee a variety of international research studies funded through federal, commercial and private sources including the National Institutes of Health, USAID, Gilead Sciences and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. This person should have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as budget experience and will work closely with principal investigators and other study staff to develop and implement protocols and ensure that study goals are met for multiple research studies in India. In addition, the successful candidate will need to track activities, milestones, and deliverables as well as prepare budgets, financial reports and project expenditures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating existing and new initiatives to further the mission and goals of the overall research program and individual projects. Specific areas of responsibility include project and program management, enhancing overall team operations, managing and tracking the progress of research capacity for personnel. Manage research workflow to ensure timely and high quality completion of ongoing projects.
Actively liaison with project investigators, staff and trainees to integrate and assure the provision of resources across the research program and projects. Work in coordination with the research teams to ensure accuracy, proper organization and advanced preparation of sponsored projects deliverables.
Coordinate and participate in the development, submission and management of sponsored projects proposals. Administrate pre- and post- award requirements and work closely with faculty and the Sponsored Projects Officers to revise and submit grants, maintain reconciled accounts, submit annual reports to federal agencies, manage high-risk subawards, and oversee grant closeout for multiple millions of federal grant dollars.
Work with research team and take lead in writing protocols and completing IRB and other regulatory submissions for projects. Design procedures to ensure compliance with grant, institutional and sponsor regulations. Collect, review for adherence to regulation, and track all regulatory documentation for sites involved in studies.
In collaboration with the PI, other investigators, and staff, set project goals and timelines. Draft materials including work scopes and budgets required for subcontracting. Serve as the primary contact for administrative staff at subcontracting institutions. Receive, process, and track invoices from subcontractors. Develop project budgets and manage project funds. Develop and manage budgets for grant submissions and progress reports. Participate in budget/contract creation, review and negotiations. Maintain current subcontracts for other universities and participating centers. Fiscal oversight of several projects.
Arrange and track monthly teleconferences, take minutes, contract management and invoicing, track expenditures against milestones, coordination of multi-country partners, assure alignment of financial spending against program goals, prepare new task order proposals.
Assist with maintenance of study databases and work with others to define and provide project data as needed.
Requires bachelor’s degree in related discipline, and Master’s degree in related field strongly preferred.
Requires minimum of five years related experience required, preferred experience in research program implementation and management.
Prior experience implementing projects in India would be preferred.
