Cold Spring Harbor laboratory located on the North Shore of Long Island, is currently is seeking a motivated and responsible candidate for an immediate Laboratory Technician II position in the Zador Laboratory to work on an exciting new technology at the intersection of neuroscience and biology. The successful candidate will participate in a variety of basic research in the area of neuroscience and biology, including histology, DNA/RNA manipulation, cryo-sectioning and rodent surgery.
Responsibilities will focus on utilizing the cryostat for preparation of frozen sections, applying biology techniques to DNA/RNA samples and working with mice, including handling, surgery and record keeping. Experience with high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies and microscopy will be beneficial.
Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in biology or related discipline as well as at least 1 year of non-classroom related biology experience are required for this position. Experience with handling biological tissue, histology, cry-sectioning and working with rodents along with and interest in neuroscience are strongly suggested
Skills: The position requires flexibility, excellent organizational skills, the ability to troubleshoot and work independently, and a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team and should have good communication skills.
