This position is in the Student Accounts office within the Controller’s Office. The Student Accounts Office consists of 4 staff members not including this position. The office is responsible for handling all aspects of a student’s account including charges, payments, refunds and loans.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes weekly student refunds by verifying each account, keying them into the Banner system, and then balancing between Banner and the ACH file or accounts payable checks.
Daily interaction with student and parent via phone, email or walk-ins in regards to questions concerning a student’s account.
Participates in the retention efforts of the University by reaching out to students with registration holds to assist in getting the holds released.
Reviews and processes all returned refunds which includes checks, voids and ACH by contacting the student and updating the student’s account to reflect the return.
Assists the office with reviewing all credit balances to determine the write-offs that are needed.
Processes the daily incoming mail and maintains social media for Student Accounts.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of three years of office experience in clerical and/or bookkeeping work.
Experience in customer service.
Associate’s degree including studies of clerical and/or bookkeeping.
Alternately, the successful candidate will possess any equivalent combination or training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures.
Proficient typing and adding machine skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to follow directions and prescribed routines.
Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to research, resolve and explain student account issues.
Ability to balance weekly refunds.
