Drew University is seeking a Leadership Annual Giving Officer in the University Advancement Department. Reporting to the Executive Director of Individual Giving, the Leadership Annual Giving Officer manages a portfolio of annual giving prospects and donors at the $10,000 - $100,000 level, with a goal of increasing the retention rate of current donors, growing the annual giving donor base, and increasing levels of existing gifts to Drew’s College of Liberal Arts, Caspersen School of Graduate Studies, and the Theological School. Spring boarding from the regional advancement office in New York City, as well as the advancement office on the main campus of the University, this position requires local, regional, and national travel. Oversees the logistics of the newly outsourced annual fund direct mail solicitation program utilizing a sole-source external vendor partnership.
Conduct visits with prospective, current, and lapsed donors to advance conversations about current and deferred gifts to the University. This may occasionally require the presence of other members of the Drew community, including faculty, and/or volunteers. Stress activity that retains donors and increases their annual giving, as well as attracts new donors.
Oversee the Direct Mail vendor, planning, designing, and implementing an annual solicitation strategy. Work closely with the Communications office on messaging and branding.
Working in collaboration with the Executive Director for Individual Giving, the Executive Director of Operations & Infrastructure, develop individual cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of current and prospective donors capable of making leadership annual gifts in support of Drew University's institutional priorities and academic programs. Identify donors to move up the pipeline towards the Major Gift Officers.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Individual Giving
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
5-8 years of experience as a fundraiser, preferably in Higher Education
Proven track record of closing five and six-figure gifts
Superb organization and project management skills
Track record of confidentiality and discretion
Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
Must possess a growth and entrepreneurial mindset with a nimble and flexible attitude
Ideal Education and Experience
Experience working in Higher Education
Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and Banner with an ability to quickly gain proficiency in a new CRM
