This position's primary responsibility will be to serve as a nurse consultant to support a federally-funded, 5-year clinical trial of a pain management intervention. The BETTER Trial will test a patient education intervention among adults ages 50 and over presenting with acute musculoskeletal pain in the UNC Hospitals Emergency Department. Patients will either view an educational video on pain management; view a video on pain management and receive a follow-up telephone call from a nurse; or receive guideline-based usual care.
Education and Experience:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.
A successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills, as well as the ability to work independently. Professionalism, dependability, and integrity are a must, as position requires interaction with patients as well as various professionals throughout the healthcare system.
A masters-level nursing degree and minimum of 2 years clinical experience with pain management, emergency medicine, or geriatric patients. Additionally, familiarity with research design and execution, project management concepts, and analytics.
