The Academic Wage: Student Career Coordinator position exists to educate, support and empower students as they explore educational and career opportunities and prepare for future employment. This position will also assist in the management of the online recruiting database as well as employer relations to ensure availability of real-world networking, internship & employment opportunities.
This position will work on a part-time, temporary basis to cover various responsibilities within the Career Development Center as we seek qualified candidates to fill the full-time Internship & Employment Coordinator role. The selected individual in this position will have the opportunity to gain experience and exposure on the OSU-Cascades campus, as well as the ability to network and build relationships with employers and business leaders across Central Oregon.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Ore., is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,200 students in bachelor's and master's degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, opened its 10-acre campus in fall 2016, and the Oregon legislature approved additional funding in 2017 and 2018 for continued campus expansion. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 students by 2025 and is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.
The defined qualifications will need to be identified in the Minimum/Required Qualifications field.
Bachelor's Degree required in field of choice. At least one year of experience advising individuals in an educational environment OR at least two years of experience evaluating candidates through the recruiting process in a human resources role. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external constituents. Proven ability (via application process) to produce an effective resume and cover letter. Demonstrated knowledge of effective interview skills (via interview process), and a high degree of professionalism (also demonstrated via application/interview process). Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team and independently. Commitment and demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to work effectively with employers, students, staff, faculty and administrators. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
This position will be 20-30 hours a week. Work hours are flexible in regards to time of day but employee will be required to work five days a week, Monday through Friday in order to respond to student and employer needs in a timely manner.
90-95% of the work will occur on campus in an office environment during normal work hours. 5-10% of the work may occur at local employer or organization offices and regional networking events. Networking and on-campus events may require some night and weekend hours, based on business needs.
Additional Salary Information: Starting salary range is anticipated to be $22.89 - $24.04/hour and will be commensurate with skills, education, and experience.
