Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for Public Health Research Institute (PHRI). Postdoctoral opportunities are available to study how human fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans sense inositol signal and control inositol metabolic pathways and their regulation by a protein degradation system that are important for fungal development and pathogenesis. By applying molecular biology, biochemistry and system biology, we aim to investigate the molecular basis of Cryptococcus-host interactions. Successful candidate is responsible to design and conduct highly specialized molecular research in the area of Cryptococcus pathogenesis under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI). Collecting data and preparing reports for peer- reviewed scientific publications and conference presentations, and contributes to the writing of grants.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conduct research activities on projects to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Cryptococcus-host interactions, focusing on the role of inositol and regulation of fungal protein levels in this process, independently or as assigned, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions.
Interface with internal and external collaborators on the research projects.
Generates, compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions, recommendations, etc. pertinent to research activity.
Train new students and visitors in research area focused on Cryptococcus pathogenesis.
Provide managerial support for the daily operations within the Xue Lab.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant science with no more than one year of postdoctoral research experience.
