Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for Pharmacology, Physiology & Neuroscience. Under supervision performs and assists with laboratory services and procedures in support of research activities of the laboratory.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Participates in experimental design and carries out experiments including animal surgeries; rodent injections; rodent gavage; stereotaxic surgery and behavioral testing.
Quality animal care to prevent stress.
Assists in packing, unpacking, storage and maintenance of lab supplies and materials.
Ensures that glassware and equipment are kept clean and are properly stored.
Prepares stock solutions and buffers.
Assists with the maintenance of the laboratory facilities, equipment and instruments.
Initiates inventory control of laboratory supplies, prepares and processes orders for supplies as needed.
Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. Required to compile data and present results.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
One (1) year of prior laboratory experience or Bachelor's Degree a related field.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform job duties.
The position also requires a flexible schedule during the week and must be able to work weekends.
Salary: $20.00 per hour for 15 hours week
