Rutgers University-Newark, an urban, public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Program Coordinator II for the Housing & Residence Life – Newark. Reporting to the Manager of Event Services of the Office of Reservations and Special Events (ORSE). The duties of the Program Coordinator II include but not limited to; -Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of all ORSE managed spaces, including satellite operations. -Supervises undergraduate student staff. -Provides assistance, direction, and expertise regarding reservations policies and procedures to the internal and external constituencies on the Newark campus and the Newark community. -Provides support to the other ORSE program coordinators as needed and directed by the Director of the Office of Reservations and Special Events. -Works closely with student organizations to plan and implement events - Occasional nights and weekends may be required. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach. A minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills and computer literacy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal). Must be accessible by phone to provide on-site support to clients and ORSE staff. Ability to complete multiple and concurrent tasks. Commitment to excellence in client service and a professional demeanor. -Experience in a university setting, decision making and problem solving will make it easier for the person to interpret policies and provide limit setting to appropriate behaviors in a college setting. -Must have advanced knowledge and experience with technical systems including lighting, sound, and projection in order to meet the increasingly complex needs of events and facilities. Must be able to train others in the operation of these systems.
-Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or equivalent combination of education and/or professional experience working in Student Affairs, live events or theater preferred. -Experience working closely with students from diverse backgrounds in a higher education setting. -Experience working collaboratively with students, faculty and staff in a wide variety of university committees, departments and /or student organizations to develop and implement programmatic initiatives. Licensed driver. Highly computer literate.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
