Michigan Medicine is seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) float to support ambulatory care nutrition services.
This role will be coordinated in an ongoing fashion, by the Manager of Ambulatory Care Nutrition Services, to provide coverage at a variety of clinics serving pediatric and/or adult patients in our primary care and/or specialty care ambulatory care units in Ann Arbor and in surrounding communities. The position is aimed to provide coverage in clinics while the RDNs typically appointed to the clinics are on leaves of absences.
The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist hired will be the nutrition expert in providing high-quality nutrition services which are evidence-based and patient-centered for the patients and care team being supported. The RDN who fills this role will be a compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient-oriented individual who will share in the goal of creating the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees.
Management received from Manager of Ambulatory Care Nutrition Services
Leadership oversight also received from Ambulatory Care/Division administration.
Peer relationships with RDNs in work group.
Provide individualized medical nutrition therapy and education to ambulatory care patients relating to prevention or disease specific general nutrition principles for populations across the lifespan.
Manage complex nutritional needs including recommending and calculating specialized diets, formulas, and/or nutrition support regimens as necessary.
Use Nutrition Care Process standard protocols and evidence-based methods for assessment, nutrition diagnosis, intervention and monitoring.
Reassess the Nutrition Care Process and implement changes as indicated.
Document nutrition care in the electronic medical record in a timely manner consistent with assigned policies and procedures.
Maintain ongoing communication with referring physicians and other health care providers to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings, task forces, and projects.
Lead classes for patients with specific nutrition issues as applicable.
Recognize the varied needs of age-specific populations, as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.
Abide by institutional policy for the proper use of patients’ protected health information.

Practice effective time management and maintain productivity standards
Maintain standards for billing for services provided.
Contribute to quality improvement efforts.
Precept dietetic interns if assigned to an area that the float RDN is providing coverage to.

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or Registered Dietitian Eligible (with passing of Registered Dietitian exam within 3 months of hire). Requires primary source verification.
Bachelor’s degree granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.
Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Work independently with schedule and workflow flexibility.
Use technology such as word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail.
Master’s Degree in Nutrition related field.
Specialty credential such as Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition, Certified Diabetes Educator, Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition, Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition, Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition
20 hours per week. The schedule and work location of the RDN who fills this role will vary due to the nature of the position.
