Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy (DOE) funded National Laboratory, affiliated with Iowa State University, is seeking an Administrative Specialist within Ames Laboratoryâs Directorâs Office.
This position will be responsible for performing proactive, professional-level support to executives of Ames Laboratory. This position is responsible for drafting, editing, and sending communications on behalf of the Chief Operations Officer and the Director of Laboratory Performance Management. In addition, this position will coordinate annual laboratory documents including the Performance Evaluation Measurement Plan (PEMP) and Annual Laboratory Plan.Â Foreign Visits and Assignments will be another responsibility of this position to interpret, advise, process, and trouble-shoot questions. In addition, this position will provide direct administrative and travel support to the Chief Operations Officer and Director of Laboratory Performance Management along with cross-training with others in order to provide seamless, professional support to Ames Laboratory executives, employees, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to handle high-level communications with necessary tact, professionalism and sensitivity to confidentiality. The incumbent will possess the ability to work effectively and professionally with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders within a team environment and work independently as needed for assignments. The ability to gather, analyze, and assemble data and prepare reports according to required format, and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines is critical for success in this position.
