The Academic Affairs Manager of Kingsborough Community College(KCC) Flex, will report to the Office of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. KCC Flex, is an initiative designed to provide access and ensure success for adult and nontraditional students seeking a college degree. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and administration of KCC Flex and the quality of the Flex student experience. S/he will collaborate with other areas of the institution to facilitate academic planning, resource allocation, enrollment projections and other processes affecting Flex programs and students.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to:
Manage the development and scaled growth of KCC FLEX.
Work with the Dean of Faculty and Provost, to develop the operational infrastructure to support academic outreach, services and programming for adult, non-traditional and stop-out students.
Implement a service model grounded in high-touch academic coaching, delivered in all phases of the adult/non-traditional student lifecycle, from application inception to course registration, attendance, course/program completion, and transition to career or further education.
Assist the Provost's Office in evaluation and assessment of KCC Flex's service model; identify issues and develop solutions, which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.
Liaison with other College offices to establish and maintain internal policies and communication for the efficient operation of KCC Flex.
Compile information and reports related to current and future grants that support KCC Flex.
Review and analyze internal and external trends in adult higher education to advise and develop reports and recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of KCC Flex.
Work with the Offices of Communications, Marketing, and Enrollment Management, develop program recruitment and retention goals and implement plans for meeting them.
Facilitate connections to Career Services to provide Flex students with optimized career advisement, job readiness, and job placement.
Cultivate and maintain a cooperative and collaborative working relationship with the public, faculty and administrators.
Supervise KCC Flex professional staff
Bachelor's degree and six years higher education experience required, at least two years of which in advising, student services or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to work successfully and collaboratively with faculty and personnel
Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to attend to details and provide structure and meet deadlines within a complex and evolving development process
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Familiarity with online learning
Ability to accomplish goals by working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness
Master's degree in adult learning, student service administration or related
Experience serving adult and non-traditional students in a higher education setting
Ability to engage complex, multiple perspectives, build consensus and to mediate different approaches and viewpoints; ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve professional development issues related to program expansion;
Ability to use data and research findings for program and staff development purposes
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, create reports, and develop cogent recommendations based on findings

Implements and monitors an array of functions and programs in the Office of Academic Affairs
Coordinates academic program administration; ensures quality of service delivery to students

Liaisons with faculty and professional staff in departments and offices across the College
May manage professional and/or clerical staff
May act on behalf of Director in his/her absence
