Work tasks include resolving minor technology problems, monitoring activities, and maintaining documentation. They have latitude for independent initiative and judgment, under supervision.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Health Professions Education Center (HPEC) is an academic learning center serving all students and faculty at the Hunter College Nursing and School of Health Professions. HPEC leads the support for all administrative technical support services across the campus and occasionally off campus. It provides multiple services in assisting and supporting students, faculty and staff as well as the college community. The IT Assistant Level 1 will report to Health Professions Education Center (HPEC) Director and other managers as assigned. Duties include:
Technical support and faculty training of all Smart and Enhanced Classrooms at the Brookdale Campus
Management of all HPEC media and computer resources
Preparing and testing equipment for distribution
Gathering information for the website; basic website support
Management, installation, configuration, and maintenance of a multitude of software titles for the HPEC
Updating HPEC computers with antivirus software, patches, and plug-ins
Set up accounts, provide training and retrieve recordings for faculty using video conferencing technologies.
Oversight of HPEC office and supervision of all part time employees in director's absence.
Contact CUNY state vendors for pricing and equipment specifications, as well as generate purchase orders for technology purchases.
Review all expenditures for accuracy, proper documentation, and submission for payment.
Responsible for checking order status and following up with companies about incomplete orders
Provide technology assistance to faculty and students in all Brookdale Campus smart classroom and labs.
Aid faculty with technology aspects of grants.
Create training and equipment manuals for HPEC patrons.
Maintain and update HPEC databases of all educational media and daily services
Contact health-related companies to acquire new instructional programs for the HPEC's permanent media collection
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
A minimum of six months of full-time experience in a computer or technology-related position. Experience that is more than 20 hours per week and less than 35 hours per week may be counted at 50% of the requirement (i.e., two months of part time experience equal to one month full time experience)
Additional experience and/or education that can be met by ONE of the following: An additional three years and six months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; an Associate's degree plus 18 months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This title has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
Preferred qualifications include;
Ability to learn and support new services
Knowledge of Hunter and/or CUNY supported services
Ability to develop a variety of approaches for problem solving
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong interpersonal skills for service delivery
New Hire: $48,246*
This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.
