Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Maintain Germ-Free isolators and mice, including animals that are mono-associated or specifically colonized with defined flora. Coordinate Inter-isolator transporting of mice from various locations. Perform routine sterility checks of animals including Gram stain and culture of materials. Maintain animal work supplies. Perform oral inoculations to associate mice with a defined flora. Assess the degree of colonization in specifically associated mice through culture or other microbiological methods. Breed and maintain strains of in-bred transgenic and Knock-out mice. Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a one-year term position with strong potential for renewal.

College background and 3 or more years of experience in animal care. Demonstrated experience with mice and colony management.
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform in a team environment are essential; ability to lift, move and transport laboratory equipment; ability to work with animals and hazardous materials.
