Temporary Employee, TES Human Resources Specialist-TES2019-3
The Temporary Employment Service (TES) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) provides temporary full-time administrative assistance to our campus community in an environment of collaboration, professional development and service in support of the university goals. With those goals in mind, we are seeking a dynamic, dependable, experienced individual with outstanding attention to detail and customer service to support Human Resources (HR), Benefits and Payroll processes in an efficient, accurate and compliant manner.
As a temporary Human Resource Specialist, you will be responsible for approving Workday transactions accurately and timely along with resolving Workday issues; working closely with the HR Generalist II, III and HR Business Partner in supporting designated college and administrative units and providing guidance and advice as it relates to Workday transactions will be key elements of this role. The temporary HR Specialist will provide the highest possible customer service and will perform HR-related duties on a professional level.

Core responsibilities where you will make an impact include:
Approve staff and faculty transactions in Workday: Activity Pay, add job, change job, hire, international transactions including transfers and assignments, terminations, resignations, contingent worker, and fixed-term assignments.
Enter pertinent information into Workday, such as pay group and compensation.
Subject matter expert with Workday.
Assist employees seeking information and guidance concerning various HR/Workday related questions. Advances questions to subject matter expert as needed.
Run daily/monthly reports/audits and reviews with departments and HR Business Partner (e.g. position end date, compensation end date, inactive employees still listed as active, etc.).
Bring unresolved items to the attention of the HR Manager-Tier 2.
Resolve ServiceNow tickets.
Assist with recruiting duties such as notifying division staff of internal postings, scheduling interviews, preparing agendas, reviewing application in Taleo to match experience with specific job-related requirements, conducting initial phone screens and reference checks, preparing offer letters, and helping hiring managers in keeping new hires engaged between hire date and start date.
Provide assistance with the following tasks such as ensuring onboarding templates are provided to hiring managers and that documented plans are in place, that new hires are informed about Orientation offerings, etc. and sending 'exit survey' to exiting employees and scheduling exit interview meetings on behalf of the HR Business Partner.
You should be able to demonstrate:

Flexibility and ability to multi task effectively; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required
Minimum 1-3 years' of relevant work experience in Human Resources, Benefits and/or Payroll
Licenses or certifications: PHR or SHRM-CP
Prior experience in a shared services environment and/or experience with Workday preferred
