Summary of Duties:
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Lab Preparator to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. This position is a term position. The exact responsibilities will be communicated via email at least one week before the start of the semester. Potential assignments include teaching recitations; serving as Head TA for a lab section; lab supervision assignment; LRC supervision assignment; or a course coordination assignment. Typical duties for a Head TA assignment include: Walks through a certain number of designated lab sections in order to train, mentor, and monitor other lab TAs; Participates in training and mentoring of Lab TAs; Participates in coordination, analysis, and implementation of labs; Evaluates lab methods and instructional techniques and provides prep assistance; Assists with responding to TA and student lab emails. Typical duties for a lab supervision assignment include: Walks through a certain number of designated lab sections in order to train, mentor, and monitor other lab TAs; Assists with leading weekly staff meetings; Develops TA resources for the TA Forum (including experimental checklists, FAQs, and improved content); Generates standard lab walking notes; Participates in planning, coordination, analysis, and implementation of labs; Serves as a primary contact for TA and student lab questions. Typical duties for a LRC supervision assignment include: Serves as the Learning Resource Center Supervisor for a certain number of hours per week; Trains, mentors, and monitors other chemistry TAs during assigned Learning Resource Center shifts; Generates weekly reports regarding personnel in the Learning Resource Center and offers suggestions to improve the Learning Resource Center; Fields student content questions from any chemistry course.

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous teaching experience in a university setting.
Target Salary: $19.00 - $21.00 Hourly
