The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Administrative Specialist II. Reporting to the Business Manager and the Department Head; this position is the first contact for all incoming students. The graduate students rely on this staff member to be there to help them with every aspect of their time in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The position serves as the administrative assistant to the Department Head and assists the faculty in administrative matters of the department. This position is also cross-trained with the other staff members in the office as a backup for various tasks.
Primary duties and responsibilities include the following:
Maintaining student files and database, processing graduate applications, assigning advisors in BANNER, update ADMIT information for all graduate students, textbook orders, coordinate graduate recruitment visits, assist with registration issues, contribute to the design of annual newsletters and departmental brochures, and supervision of designated departmental student employees. The Administrative Specialist II will also provide administrative support to the Department Head and Business Manager and assist with the preparation of reports for purposes of strategic planning and program accreditation.
