Job Summary/Basic Function: The purpose of this position is to provide nancial assistance to college students through state grant programs, or awarding student loans, or reporting and maintaining compliance with Lamar University's Athletics' Scholarship Program, or administrating the State and Federal Work-study Program, or administrating the Student Financial Aid Appeal Program and monitor and work with student loan defaults, or importing FAFSA data and running daily reports while ensuring that all federal and state regulations are met regarding nancial aid, administer the work study program, submit accurate and timely state reports, and reconcile discrepancies. This is accomplished by determining nancial eligibility, serving as a liaison between student/parent and lenders, other schools and state and federal government, and working with other departments to place students in work study jobs. Other duties include providing assistance with job interviews, attending student orientation and Open House in order to answer questions, making presentations, and assisting students and parents as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Education & Experience: Over three (3) years experience. Knowledge is normally acquired through four (4) years of college resulting in a Bachelors degree or equivalent.

Physical Requirements: Sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time. This job title normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion. This job title has no budgetary responsibility.
Job Function: Awards nancial aid for academic partnership programs by reviewing student accounts; determining aid eligibility by checking nancial need; ensuring that the program qualications have been met; processing loans; awarding subsidized, unsubsidized and private loans the Student Information System (SIS); entering data; compiling spreadsheets of students for each sub code and fund code; making adjustments to aid if necessary; and completing year-end report to send the state.
Performs related duties by applying student tuition waivers and exemptions; posting athletic scholarships and ensuring NCAA compliance; evaluating student accounts to determining students eligibility for college work study funding; counseling; loading data; responding to academic partnership emails; assisting callers; verifying student accounts so that Certified Teachers Aid exemption can be awarded; reconciling loan funds with the Department of Education data; identifying nancial aid recipients that make failing grades each semester; reviewing appeal letters submitted by students and determining approval for probation or denial of aid; and providing excellent customer service.
This job title serves as nancial aid liaison by speaking to Lamar students and other groups about Financial Aid; developing relationships with high school counselors and teachers about Financial Literacy; developing educational materials for public relations, recruiting and retention purposes; interpreting regulations and applying to individual circumstances; making presentations; and remaining current on industry regulations.
