Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a UCHC Technician II within Rutgers University Correctional Health Care for Northern State Prison, located in Newark, NJ. The UCHC Technician II participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.
Assists with cleaning, sterilizing, and securing equipment within the Health Services Unit; maintains the supply stock in examination rooms and assists with inventory audits.
Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider.
Maintains refill book to ensure timely reordering of medications; receives and logs all pharmaceuticals received from pharmacy.
Verifies inmate housing locations and bundles medications by housing unit for distribution.
Maintains monthly statistics for the Health Services Administration Report.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent. One (1) year of related healthcare experience, demonstrating competencies to perform essential duties of the position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Typing, ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by the Department of Corrections in shared office environments. Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently is essential, extensive reading required, extended sitting and/or standing is required. Intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities, ability to move from unit to unit within correctional facilities requiring walks, bends, stretches, pushes, and pulls. Hearing is essential, ability to speak clearly is required, required to travel within the state, ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions and on call responsibilities.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
