Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Medicine within the Center for Immunity & Inflammation.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (Assistant Professor), the primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to perform specialized research activities and design and execute advanced experimental procedures in an immunology-focused laboratory independently.
Among the key duties of this position are the following;
Designs, discusses, and performs diverse experimental models and techniques related to the study of innate cells.
Contributes to general laboratory operations, including breeding and genotyping of mice and general maintenance of animal colonies.
Operates and maintains experimental equipment.
Records and analyzes experiential data.
Contributes to the development of performance standards, selection of methodology, instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the clinical and research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department.
Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction Principal Investigator (Assistant Professor).
Attends and participates in seminars.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., or equivalent in a Biological Science or in a related field.
Extensive experience performing experimental research relevant to the field of immunology.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prior experience in multi-color flow cytometry and mouse models of infectious diseases.
Experience with innate cells including granulocytes and macrophages.
Ability to work in a team environment and work independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional experience in next-generation sequencing methodology (e.g. RNA-seq).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.
Salary: Maximum authorized amount $50,004.
