Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) is dedicated to excellence in providing behavioral health services to the people of New Jersey. We are currently seeking Habilitation Counselors for the Essex Children's Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (CMRSS). Provides clinical assessments that meet quality and quantity standards within UBHC and the Department of Children and Families/Division of Children's Systems of Care (DCSOC). Performs functions in support of the University Behavioral Health Care mission providing streamlined, prompt, and consumer friendly crisis response services.
Receives telephone requests for service, undertakes crisis/strength-based assessment of the service needed of the client or customer.
Responds by outreach to the family, assesses the youth and family strengths and current crisis situation.
Makes appropriate referrals for time-limited stabilization services.
Monitors effectiveness of services and makes linkages for aftercare.
Provides face-to-face interventions in the community, including to families' homes, schools, group homes, foster homes, shelters, and detention centers.
Organizes transition and discharge from crisis services, connecting to ongoing services and family support groups.
Acquires familiarity with agencies in Essex County that provide services to children, adolescents and their families, such as, providing crisis stabilization services and providing ongoing support/resources for the family.
Completes appropriate documentation and utilization review.
Meets all annual requirements and understands and adheres to all pertinent federal, state, and Rutgers' regulations, laws and policies.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health or related human services field. Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
One (1) year of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and applying relevant crisis stabilization approaches for children and adolescents and their families.
Valid driver's license for use in outreaches to homes and community settings in Essex County.
Must be available for on-call services.
