The School of Interdisciplinary Health and Science at the University of Saint Joseph is seeking candidates for a full-time, 9 month, tenure-track, Assistant/Associate Professor/Director of the Health Science major. The Health Science Program is located within the Nutrition and Public Health Department. The Department offers undergraduate programs in nutrition and dietetics, public health, and health science along with a post-graduate accredited dietetic internship, an online Master's degree in Nutrition, and beginning fall 2020 a Master of Public Health.
The successful candidate will join the faculty of the Nutrition and Public Health Department. As Director of the Health Science Program, the faculty member will provide leadership and administrative guidance to the program. The Director is also responsible for program reports, program curriculum, procurement and management of resources, management of preceptorships, and student advisement. The faculty member will work closely with the Physician's Assistant Studies Program director as there is a Health Science track that accepts freshmen for direct entry into the USJ Physician's Assistant Studies program.
Responsibilities as a USJ Professor comprise active participation in department, school, and university activities and committees. In accordance with the University's mission, faculty members are also responsible for advancing development in pedagogy, scholarship, mentoring student research, and service to the university and affiliated communities.
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree and have degree in a Health Science related discipline including but not limited to public health, health promotion, physical or occupational therapy, audiology, nutrition, epidemiology, behavioral medicine, health education. Preferred candidates must have a record of excellent teaching experience and the ability to teach courses in multiple aspects of health such as health promotion, public health, chronic diseases and disabilities, nutrition, ethics, legal issues and leadership in health care. A record of scholarly work and the ability to engage an increasingly diverse student body in research, and in health promotion. The ideal candidate will have experience working in some aspect of the health field, and experience in program administration.
