This position responds to incoming calls to the Police Department, routing and logging calls as appropriate, gathering and managing incident-related data, and arranging for dispatch of officers to scene of complaint.
Answer multi-line and emergency phones and act as an after-hours emergency switchboard.
Gather information for emergency and non-emergency complaints and prioritize all calls according to importance. Relay information to appropriate officers, supervisors and other persons as appropriate. Monitor alarm systems.
Greet walk-in customers and serve as receptionist.
Use computer systems to maintain call lists and duty logs of all police. Prepare and distribute records/reports as designated to campus, courts and others as specified.
Use specialized software (computer-aided dispatch and Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System) to enter and retrieve criminal cation information.
A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is required.
Three years of general office experience required
Work experience in dispatch, communications, public safety and/or law enforcement environment is highly desired
