The Program Coordinator is part of the Vanderbilt Engineering Center for Transportation and Operational Resiliency (VECTOR) group within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University. This position will perform budgetary and administrative duties, as well as coordination activities in support of the research group. This position is 30 hours per week with the potential to move to full-time.
Vanderbilt's Civil and Environmental Engineering department prepares students for entry-level positions in many specialty areas of civil engineering, as well as many other types of careers, such as business, construction, and law. At the graduate level, the department educates leaders in infrastructure and environmental engineering research and practice, with emphasis on the use of reliability and risk management. Development and application of advanced information systems as applied to civil and environmental engineering needs is an important part of the program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage project budgeting across multiple research projects funded by a range of centers and organizations
Monitor and reconcile expenditures, prepare necessary documentation for supervisory review/approval.
Coordinate activities and meetings, and act as a liaison with other personnel, agencies and sponsors
Assist faculty and students in project management and administration efforts, including proposal development and project reporting
Coordinate and assist with special events including guest itineraries, seminar announcements, food ordering and reservations.
Assist researchers in preparation of power point presentations, research poster creation, and online survey preparation and analysis
Assist with travel and other expense reports, pre-travel authorizations, and trip planning
Maintain VECTOR website and monitor VECTOR inbox/calendar
Order supplies for the VECTOR group
Profile of an Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree is necessary
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is necessary.
Budget and financial experience is strongly preferred.
Basic skills with WordPress is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Vanderbilt's SkyVU Oracle system for expense reporting, etc. is strongly preferred.
Strong communication skills are preferred.
