Vet Tech Assistant Responsibilities: When rostered to work the following duties are involved. Feed and water animals according to daily schedules, including monitoring the function and cleanliness of automatic waterers and feed troughs. Cleaning stalls, paddocks, waterers and feeding equipment as needed. Catching and moving horses as needed to and from stalls, drylots and pasture as appropriate. Observing animals for inappetence, signs of illness, injury or lameness and reporting any such findings to unit manager or veterinary care staff in a timely manner. When within capabilities, undertaking treatments for minor ailments under direction of veterinary staff. Monitoring feed supplies and informing appropriate personnel in a timely manner when re-supply is needed to ensure appropriate feed remains available. Monitoring the condition of the facility including fencing and stalls and undertaking minor repairs that are within capability and informing management when issues need larger attention. When items are needed to effect repairs or other supplies need to be purchased inform management so materials can be obtained in a timely manner. A small amount of record keeping related to the animals and their care including feed consumption, weight and health maintenance including farrier visits may be required. Respectful interactions with coworkers and users of the facility are expected. Be present and respond to requests for assistance with facilities by guests during scheduled events (shared responsibility with Manager)
Salary Range: $15.44 to $20.47 USD/hour

Requried Qualifications: One year of post high school experience or education in veterinary assisting. The position requires the ability to stand and walk for the majority of scheduled time, bend, kneel, carry, lift, push and pull 50 lbs and operate small farm machinery. Familiarity with common on-line scheduling and communication programs (Word, email, google documents)
