Supervise the staff throughout the operation of retail units and delivery of express meals
Assist manager in mentoring student managers by meeting, teaching, directing, encouraging their ideas, and acting as a role model
Assist manager in defining and adhering to labor needs and target hours
Check staff in, designate work assignments, and replace vacant staff as needed
Train, direct, coach, counsel and, when applicable, evaluate staff within assigned areas
Assist in developing, and always strive to maintain high standards of quality, customer service, safety and sanitation
Ensure adherence to state and federal food safety guidelines
Provide leadership and act as a role model to all staff, consistently emphasizing the department's commitment to customer service
Assess and recommend employee training needs as they relate to customer service and other areas
Uphold policies and practices with consistency and effectiveness
Oversee all aspects of operations, ensuring excellent service to customers
Ensure that units are opened and closed on schedule and that all menu items are available throughout
Ensure that food is prepared, displayed and maintained in a proper and aesthetically-pleasing manner throughout the period of service
Ensure that food and supply levels are adequate throughout meals, physically transferring items between units as necessary
Deliver food orders to campus departments and events using University vehicle.
Minimum two years of supervisory experience in a food service environment, and Associates degree in HRI or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Ability to effectively work with a team
Sensitivity to a diverse customer population
Valid driverâ™s license and a clean recent driving record required
Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and experience with menu/inventory management system preferred
Experience with POS system preferred
Culinary knowledge and/or experience preferred
RI Food Safety Management License or ServSafe equivalency; if not, candidate is required to obtain within one year of hire
Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment such as a printer/copy machine
Frequently moves about inside of the office to access printer, files, and other materials/ equipment
Frequent moves about campus to various locations for meetings.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk, sit; climb stairs; talk or hear.
Must occasionally lift or move products up to 50 pounds
Possesses a willingness and ability to support an inclusive and diverse campus environment
This position works 40 hours per week, 10 months per year.
