Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II for the Intensive Outpatient Program at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Mental Health Clinician II provides outpatient mental health services that demonstrate cultural sensitivity and meet the needs of designated UBHC consumers. Evaluates consumer needs and delivers therapeutic interventions incorporating evidence based individual, group, and family therapy as appropriate for mental health and co-occurring substance use issues. Plays a lead role on the unit providing peer supervision and assisting with coordination, as assigned.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
As observed by the supervisor, assesses treatment needs and provides evidence based treatment in individual, group, and family therapy formats suited to the needs of the individuals served.
Conducts behavioral health assessments with clinical skill while showing appropriate respect, concern and understanding for the individual.
Establishes appropriate DSM IV diagnoses and documents diagnoses in the clinical record at the time of assessment with updates when clinically appropriate.
Identifies consumers for whom the program is not the most appropriate level of care and assists with referring to appropriate providers within UBHC or outside.
Assumes overall case management responsibilities for individuals assigned to caseload as observed by supervisor. This includes interaction with other providers and agencies as appropriate.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a mental health or related discipline plus two (2) years post Master's experience in the mental health field or a Doctorate Degree.
A New Jersey license as required by discipline.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates competency in treating children, adolescents, adults and families, including those with co-occurring disorders.
Demonstrates ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
Sufficient computer literacy to effectively use the electronic medical record (EMR), email, Internet/Intranet.
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
May be required to work at least (1) evening per week.
