The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) is the first and largest technical college in the world for students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. The primary mission of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf is to provide deaf and hard-of-hearing students with outstanding state-of-the-art technical and professional education programs, complemented by a strong arts and sciences curriculum, that prepare them to live and work in the mainstream of a rapidly changing global community and enhance their lifelong learning.
The NTID Office of External Affairs provides institute leadership in high quality and coordinated engagement of alumni, parents, retirees, corporate partners, community organizations, partner not-for-profits and other organizations. Through its work, the office will increase philanthropic support of the institute; identify and grow revenue generating programs through contract work with corporations and other organizations; and build a network of partners to increase nationwide visibility and assist NTID is realizing its enrollment, employment, constituent engagement and research goals.
Specific areas of oversight include:
Business Operations (automatic speech recognition corporate module contracts; NTID Studios contracts, and others)
Constituent Relations (alumni, parent and retiree relations)
Special Events (responsibility for major special events, speakers and conferences)
Arts & Athletics (Dyer Arts Center, Panara Theater operations, NTID Athlete Development Program)
Primary responsibilities of the Sr. Staff Assistant include:
Manage all budgets within the NTID Office of External Affairs including those for development, constituent relations, business operations, regional representatives, arts and athletics, and special events and conferences.The Assistant will be responsible for processing all payments, journal entries, managing fiscal year-end activities, etc. The Assistant will provide monthly budget reports to the Executive Director of External Affairs and will work in close collaboration with NTID Office of Finance and Budget.
Assist in the planning and execution of major events and conferences at NTID and events and activities planned as part of the work performed by the NTID Office of External Affairs, including those for development, constituent relations, business operations, NTID regional representatives and NTID arts and athletics. Responsibilities will include managing event planning logistics, development of event marketing strategies, assisting at events, special handling of VIP event attendees, and completing event follow-up activities.
Assist the day-to-day activities of staff serving in the NTID Office of External Affairs.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Well organized and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong skills in event planning and execution
Ability to develop and execute innovative event marketing strategies
Sophisticated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse audiences and major gift donors
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Familiarity with CRM and financial management systems
Ability to manage budgets, including processing of payments, journal entries and coordination of fiscal year-end activities.
Ability to analyze budgets and provide clear and detailed reports on budget status
Preference to individuals familiar with ASL and Deaf culture
