THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT: The Kate Gleason College of Engineering at RIT has established its reputation as preeminent in career-oriented engineering education and applied research. It offers bachelor degree programs in biomedical, chemical, computer, electrical, industrial, mechanical and microelectronic engineering, and comprehensive, innovative graduate programs in a range of engineering disciplines, with two broad-based, cross-disciplinary Ph.D. programs in Engineering and Microsystems Engineering. Combined, discipline-specific graduate programs are in development to be launched in the near future. Detailed Job Description
RIT is seeking candidates for a tenure track position in Chemical Engineering with an appointment possible at all ranks (assistant, associate, or full professor) commensurate with experience. RIT has a strong commitment to engineering education and offers a variety of graduate degrees. The department has a five-year BS degree program that includes 48 weeks of cooperative education, and will prepare students for both industrial careers and graduate-level education.
The Chemical engineering program at RIT affords a forward-looking view of chemical engineering that will teach engineering principles and underlying science associated with traditional chemical engineering applications, as well as the means to apply this knowledge to modern processes that exploit nano- and molecular-scale phenomena. Our faculty members have an extraordinary opportunity to influence the relatively new undergraduate program and an emerging graduate program. Thus, the successful candidate must be able to teach core undergraduate courses and develop electives in accordance with their area of expertise, and must be capable of teaching graduate level courses that will be necessary as the program matures. The candidate will also be expected to develop externally funded research, participate in PhD programs and advise students, be committed to engaging undergraduate students in research, and perform other professional duties to enhance external reputation.

Required Minimum Qualifications
At least one degree in chemical engineering (either BS, MS or PhD) and a PhD. in chemical engineering or related fields. Priority will be given to candidates with post-doctoral experience. Related fields include, but are not limited to, chemistry, materials science and engineering, biomedical/biological engineering, mechanical engineering, and physics.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong publication record of scholarly work in peer reviewed journals.
Possess an ability to establish and maintain an externally funded research program relevant to the broad field of chemical engineering. Candidates are required to articulate and document a well-designed strategy to develop/maintain an externally funded research program.
Ability to deliver core and novel undergraduate and graduate level elective courses related to chemical engineering
Commitment to student-centerednessCandidate must support the importance of students as the primary constituency of the university and to contribute directly to student success.
Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the colleges continuing commitment to diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
