The Department of Medicine and the Division of Nephrology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor/Renal Attending Physician. The successful candidate will: - Be responsible for medical management of inpatient and outpatient kidney transplant patients including allograft biopsies and donor evaluations. - Render consultative inpatient and outpatient nephrology services and ESRD management. - Contribute actively to policy making for the transplant service and attend transplant related administrative meetings. - Participate actively in evolving standards and multidisciplinary strategies for the management of transplant patients. - Share in the rotation of responsibilities related to the Division of Nephrology. - Actively participate in educational activities for the renal division; provide adequate supervision and teaching of fellows, residents and medical students. - Actively participate in research and apply for extramural funding to support such activity. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: - Board Certified in Internal Medicine. - Board Certified in Nephrology. - Completion of Fellowship in Transplant Nephrology in an accredited UNOS/AST center. - Experience in renal ultrasound and real time ultrasound guided kidney biopsies. - Experience in pre and post-operative medical management of transplant recipients. - Must demonstrate ability to conduct basic or clinical investigation.
