Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Research Associate II for Anesthesiology. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Associate II will conduct biomedical, morphological and pain behavior techniques. Assists with training lab staff, and intramural grants with three years.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Candidate performs electrophysiological recordings from brain slices.
Executes optogenetic techniques.
Handling of rodents.
Trains clinical fellows and students.
Performs stereotaxic surgery, intracranial microinjections, and immunohistochemistry experiments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
PhD, MD, or equivalent with 3-4 years of lab training experience.
A 1200 ft2 laboratory fully equipped with 2 slice electrophysiology rigs, and 1 for dissociated neurons. Each rig is equipped with an epifluorescence microscope as well as a laser and/or LED illumination system for optogenetic stimulation. On each rig, all designed slice recordings in the application can be performed independently.
