Director of Global Health and Assistant/Associate Professor
The University of Maryland Baltimore School of Nursing (UMSON) seeks a visionary leader to contribute to UMSON's mission of building the next generation of nurse leaders.
The Director of Global Health is responsible for overseeing and integrating all international and global activities of the School of Nursing. Leading the strategic and operational management of the Office of Global Health, the candidate will oversee UMSON's visiting scholars' program, its global health certificate program, and all international travel experiences for graduate and undergraduate nursing students. The Director of Global Health will be UMSON's primary point of contact for foreign dignitaries, visiting researchers and scholars, and for representing the international and global health interests of the UMSON to the larger University of Maryland campus and external partners. She/he will be responsible for identifying and establishing global health educational, practice, and research opportunities for UMSON by developing, implementing and maintaining innovative global partnerships and programs. The Director of Global Health role will encompass 50% of effort on the faculty appointment. The Director of the Office of Global Health reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Partnerships, Professional Education and Practice. As an appointed faculty to UMSON, the candidate will be responsible to contribute to the tripartite mission including in global health programmatic and curriculum development, didactic and field global health course instruction, inter-professional collaboration, and program management and evaluation. The candidate will also be expected to garner global health funded research and programmatic grants and disseminate scientific knowledge through scholarly publications.
Doctoral degree, PhD or Dr.Ph
Registered Nurse or Advance Practice Nurse
Eligible for academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor
Experience in teaching global health in academia at undergraduate and graduate levels
At least two (2) years of supervisory experience, mentoring faculty and students
Global Health Practical field experience
Evidence of significant scholarly achievements and funded global health activities; preferably focusing on maternal newborn child health, health care workforce development, and/or global to local research
Bi-lingual (French or Spanish) preferred
Ability to travel with or without students for 1-2 times per year for 2-3 week periods
