Job Description Summary
This position will provide anesthesia support to the radiation oncology service.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Responsible for anesthetizing small animals for radiation treatments, including general anesthesia and sedations.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Work closely with RTT and Radiation Nurse Coordinator to ensure patients are receiving optimal care.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Assist with anesthetizing cases for CT and MRI when radiation cases are complete.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Work closely with the anesthesia service to ensure quality patient care.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Consult with anesthesiologists regarding sedation protocols.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Assist with sedation in oncology during downtime.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Maintenance of all anesthesia equipment.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Maintain controlled drug logs
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Participate in patient rounds with Radiation Oncology Service.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Admit and discharge patients when needed
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Ensure area is stocked and clean.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Must be a CVT
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Minimum ofÂ 1 -- 2 years current anesthesia experience, 3 years preferred
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Strong communication skills
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
Â·Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Strong anesthesia knowledge base.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia B has 1-2 years of anesthesia experience.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia C has 3-4 years of anesthesia experience.
Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia D has 5 years of anesthesia experience.
Veterinary Technician, anesthesia E has 8 years of anesthesia experience.
(M-F) 8-4 or may need to come in slightly earlier or stay a bit later depending on caseload
Working conditions: High noise environment, exposure to anesthetic agents
Physical working conditions: Standing for prolonged periods, reaching/bending, kneeling
