Provide skilled trades related to painting, drywall and drywall finishing, as it relates to all painting projects
Identify all equipment, materials, sundries, etc.to establish a painting operation that is prepared to handle projects daily
Assist Assistant Director of Facilities in identifying annual, semi-annual, painting projects
Manage all aspects of assigned projects through to completion, including timely completion of all painting projects and Residence Halls during the summer
Complete inspections of apartment/space as residents move out and compile work assessments to restore painting within res hall suites in a timely fashion. Complete inspections of suites/spaces as residents move out and compile work assessments to restore suites to an out & clean status
Comply with OSHA, NYS Building Codes, EPA and DEC requirements and maintain required records
Participate in after-hours maintenance response rotation
Perform duties in all aspects of routine and restorative tasks of cleaning such as: trash removal, resetting furniture, window cleaning, floor refinishing, and operation of automatic cleaning equipment for hard floors and carpeting as needed
Follow through to completion ongoing preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facilities
Complete assigned paperwork, computer/tablet work related to daily painting maintenance, routine inspections, etc.
Be prepared to assist with grounds related tasks as needed within your immediate area during down time
Other duties as assigned
Detailed Job Description
As a member of RIT Housing staff, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Facilities, the Facilities Painter/Mechanic position will handle all in house painting projects as they are assigned. This position will work with our inventory person to ensure that we have the correct equipment and materials readily available to efficiently expedite projects. This person will undertake painting within the Residence Halls during the summer and assist in the maintenance of properties and other key projects as assigned throughout the year.
Required Minimum Qualifications
3-5yrs of experience in the painting field or related area
Outstanding customer service and people skills
PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy (please refer to page 4)
